This prostrate style mugo pine bonsai was collected in the second half of the 1990s and has been living in a pot for about 25 years. Over these long years, numerous techniques and repottings have been carried out. The cultivation and aesthetic techniques have allowed it to reach great maturity and a high-level bonsai.
After taking part in some official bonsai exhibitions in 2018, the following year I removed all the wiring from the pine and let it grow freely to maintain its vigor.
In recent days, however, I have repotted it so that the root system can have the opportunity to renew itself and continue to enjoy good health. To achieve this goal, I decided to repot the pine in a slightly larger cultivation pot to give the roots more space and to let them regenerate during next seasons.
The mugo pine will remain in the cultivation pot for at least two years. During next year, it will undergo a refinement process. Only in the spring of 2022, the pine can return to its definitive pot and participate in exhibitions again.
